Finally! We started planning the Abyss in February 2013 Рafter approximately 8 months of building, collecting & buying parts, and lots of digital planning we were able to do out first test setup. We had to rent a room at university to have enough space.

The major conclusions are: 1. The sea looks great! 2. The sea is horrible work to set up and take down (it took the two of us 3 to 4 hours for breakdown just for the sea). 3. The sea needs to be made more setup and breakdown friendly – maybe we could just vacuum it up? 4. Rocks and houses are okayish but still need major rebuilds. 5. We can get bigger. 6. We have to get bigger! 7. If we try really hard we can expand to a width of 20 base plates – that would add about 2/3 of the current size to the model. 8. Boy, we’ll need help with setup and breakdown if it gets that big. 9. We need our own tables to make setup as independent as possible. And, finally, 10. Maybe this is a little too big? Who cares…

With 2014 in mind for first exhibitions we have got a LOT of work to do. Next test setup is in less than 2 months – nobody ever claimed you needed a life when you’ve got LEGO.
